The financial freedom of cross-border employees is severely restricted by the traditional financial system. Employers are suffering from ridiculous complexity of paying salaries across the globe, not even speaking of the hefty fees.
Employees need to wait days or weeks for their hard-earned salaries to reach their families, are scammed by banks or have to carry large sums of cash at their own risk. The status quo needs to change and cutting-edge financial technology has to be used for the benefit of the hard-working people that power the global economy.
Kadmos is on a quest to restore financial freedom to cross-border employees. We started with shipping and its seafarers, where personal experiences of family members led the founders to tackle this problem. The company aspires to service all companies employing cross-border employees, in shipping and far beyond. We believe that being paid internationally should be as easy as being paid domestically.
The name Kadmos derives from a hero in Greek mythology. Kadmos is said to have been responsible for bringing the Phoenician alphabet to the Greeks, a journey inspired by his family, during which he defeated a dragon in an heroic battle. He is an innovative and brave figure, and a conduit for technological change, who goes to great length to do what is right for his family.
Kadmos is a Berlin-based Fintech on a mission to make the salary journey of millions of migrant workers more transparent, convenient, and less expensive. In 2021, the startup was founded by MIT-graduates Justus Schmueser and Sasha Makarovych with the aim of bringing modern financial payment technology to industries riddled with opaque mark-ups, kickbacks, and physical cash.
The team includes highly experienced Head of Engineering Sergio Lopez (ex tech. co-founder at Moss) and Head of Product Philipp Decurtins (ex Capgemini).
