Fintech company, Kadmos, has partnered with The Mission to Seafarers to offer a new WeCare course, which will contribute to the financial wellbeing of seafarers and help them achieve financial stability and security.

The Financial Wellbeing course was launched through United Marine Training Centre in the Philippines on Tuesday, 7 March 2023. Twelve trainers qualified to deliver the 3-hour course, covering three core topics:
  • Money and its impact on wellbeing
  • Investing in financial wellbeing
  • Managing money well

The WeCare program addresses key contributors to poor mental health and explores methods to maintain wellbeing among seafarers. Two flagship courses were developed; Social Wellbeing and Financial Wellbeing. In response to the added pressures on seafarers at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the program evolved from classroom training into an eLearning package, making it more easily accessible.
In 2023, The Mission to Seafarers aims to deliver the new Financial Wellbeing course through online and face-to-face delivery modes across its portfolio of WeCare clients and to members of its Family Support Network in the Philippines.

Thomas O'Hare, Programme Manager at The Mission to Seafarers, commented:
“The Mission to Seafarers is pleased to have Kadmos supporting our WeCare program. We've all experienced the impact money can have on our lives, whether it is the excitement of a first pay cheque or the anxiety of an overdraft. Financial Wellbeing is about taking control of our money and not letting it control us. The course gives us choices in how we manage our finances and reassures learners that what they have experienced is normal. Kadmos brings a wealth of knowledge to this important topic and will enable more seafarers and their families to maintain their financial wellbeing.”

Sasha Makarovych, co-founder at Kadmos, added: “We are delighted to support the WeCare Financial Wellbeing Seminar. Seafarers play a vital role in the global economy, and we believe that it is our responsibility to support their wellbeing in every way possible. By sponsoring this seminar, we hope to empower seafarers with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed financial decisions and secure their financial future.”
